Ay Tunay Nga Naman

Ay tunay nga naman are!!! (This is the Truth)
For those who do not know yet,  Batangas is around 2 hrs away from Manila and can be reached by either bus or a private car. It is famous not only for the beautiful beaches and diving spots but also for “Kapeng Barako”, “Balisong”, Lomi and  for the famous expressions-  “Ala eh!” and “ga”.

Our expressions and reactions are oftentimes being misunderstood as rude and offensive...
like if someone good looking girls walk by, we will say "ah ah! ano gang yabo naman niyan!" (ah ah, so sexy and juicy)
when we want to give someone some sense of motivation we usually say "ano gang kupad nare? Ibabala na kita sa paltik at ng bumilis-bilis!" (you're too slow, you want that I will put you in a slingshot for you to become a little bit faster!")
when a great food has been served we usually say "kapag garne lagi ang hayin ay makakapampiga ng katabe!" (if the food are always like this good, I can slap my sit mate)

when we asked a small favor from a friend and got refused, we usually say "ah ah, ay malma na  ang tinamaan ng lintek na are... dugo pa ga ang mahingi sa iyo?" (ah ah, you're like a dead person hit by the lightning.... what more if I ask for your blood?)

But the truth is... we are just being appreciative and straightforward fellow... in our own unique and naturally funny way and style.

My friends back then in college used to have fun on my words and my accent but later on, they learned to get adopted to it.  But as I am pondering about my “native language”, I realized that there are really some words that seem to be wrong and if you are a stranger to that language, you would think that the person using those words funny or worst, crazy. Well, I am not writing this to degrade my own language.  Don’t get me wrong. I love my language and I am proud to be born Batangueño. Anyways, you can find here some of our great punchlines and small jokes that will make you laugh and cry while laughing. To our foreign readers, I apologize if you will not be able to understand some words.

Ay paaanhin baga'y garne nga, burdado na sa dila ay mantsa pa sa dugo eh!

Batangas Expression
Pag nagka usap tayo at ako'y garne, ay ang ibig sabihin ho ng imik ko'y garne na nga, ako'y gay on din ho eh... ay di ga nga!!!
